Dear Immaculate Conception Families,
I pray everyone had a relaxing and safe weekend. The weather is definitely getting nicer.
IC Reopening- We continue to monitor the recommended Benchmarks on a weekly basis and will keep you informed on IC’s in-person reopening date. ADHS updates this data every Thursday. Last Thursday (September 10th), Yuma did not meet all three benchmarks. The positivity rate was 10.1%. All three benchmarks must be met for 2 consecutive weeks in order to open school for in-person learning. We are aware other Yuma schools have opened to in-person instruction, however, our Diocesan directive is to follow the ADHS benchmarks. I greatly appreciate your patience and continued support. We miss the children and can’t wait to have them back on campus when it is safe.

Uniforms- Please start planning accordingly. Once IC reopens campus to in-person learning, all students (remote and in-person) are required to follow uniform requirements. This is to include haircuts.
IC Clean Up Day- We had a successful first IC Clean-Up Day! Thank you Altamira Family, Olea Family, Quintero Family, Camargo Family, Davis Family, Gill Family, Garcia Family, and Mrs. Young for helping us this last Saturday. It was a beautiful morning. We will plan another IC Clean Up Day giving families an opportunity to work on Parent Hours while supporting our school.
Water- We are also in need of water bottle donations to prepare once students come to in-person instruction. 2 cases (no less than 24 water bottles each) will count as an hour of parent volunteer hours. Our water fountains will be turned off and students will need water to refill their personal water bottles. You can stop anytime from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm to drop them in the office.
MAPS Testing- MAPs is an assessment for measuring achievement and growth in K-8th grade. It provides us with accurate and actionable evidence to help target instruction for each student. Due to our current situation, all students will be testing remotely. Teachers will be monitoring them as they complete their assessments. We ask that you please do not assist your child during their test. The test is adaptive in order to discover the skills and concepts your child has acquired and what he/she is ready to learn. It is extremely important for all students to be
present during their MAPs assessment. We made some modifications to the schedule diving the class in half for smaller group testing. Teachers have reached out to parents by now letting them know if they will test in the morning or afternoon. Please review the schedule below.
BBQ- The annual Immaculate Conception School BBQ has been canceled for this year due to the pandemic. Instead, we will have a raffle as our fundraiser. Every family will receive 30 tickets (2 books of 15 tickets each). The cost per ticket is $5.00. This totals the $150 dollars each family is responsible for our Fall fundraiser. Families will receive a total of 6 parent hours for selling their tickets. Raffle prizes include a $1,000 grand prize, 2nd $500, 3rd $300 and gift cards/gift certificates from many local restaurants and businesses. If you wish to donate a gift card/gift certificate for our raffle, please contact the school office at 783-5225. We appreciate your support and pray we can come together to celebrate our annual BBQ next school year!
Progress Reports- Tomorrow, Sept. 15th, all progress reports will be emailed. You will receive it to the email we have in our system (same email used to receive weekly communication). It is very important parents discuss grades with their students. We want to make sure they are following our SLE’s (Active Christian, Responsible Citizen, Critical Thinker, and Positive Thinker.) If you have any questions, please reach out to the classroom teacher. The end of the first quarter is Oct. 9th.
Tuition- Just a friendly reminder September’s tuition is due tomorrow Sept. 15th. Please call Ms. Claudia to make a payment.
