“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

-Romans 12:12

Dear Immaculate Conception Families,

The past few days, we have spoken to many parents in regards to the COVID-19 through numerous emails and telephone conversations addressing many worries and concerns. During this difficult time for all of us, it is evident that we are all exhausted, stressed and worried. Finding patience and turning ourselves to God for guidance is the key to surviving the changes caused by COVID-19.  We are extremely thankful to our parish school community for keeping the school administration team and the faculty in prayer as we develop plans to benefit student learning. Thank you to many of our parish school families for reminding us to be patient as we think critically throughout the entire process of moving to a distant learning model for the next few weeks.

The school administration team has been in meetings the entire weekend to discuss what are the best benefits for our students, teachers, and parents. Instantly, when the email was sent to our school families, the school administration team received a personal email from Governor Ducey about the state-wide school closure. Suddenly, our plan of distant learning was going into motion.

Below are the important date changes for the distant learning implementation:

  • Teachers will prepare for student material and learning resource pick up day for Wednesday, March 18th from 8:00 am to 3 pm.
  • All learning material will also be uploaded and can be found in our School Website. Parents have the option to print their packets at home.  This is for our Kindergarten through 8th
  • Students will begin their distance learning on Wednesday, March 18th.
  • Distance learning will take place from Wednesday, March 18th - Friday, March 27th.
  • Students will have Spring break from Monday, March 30th -Friday, April 3rd.
  • As of now, students will return back to classrooms on Monday, April 6th. Please continue to check our school website icyumaschool.com or check our Facebook: Immaculate Conception School.
  • No school on Good Friday, April 10th or Easter Monday, April 13th. Students will return back from Easter break on Tuesday, April 14th.

Books/Instructional Materials Pick-Up-Extremely Important

In order to prepare the students for distance learning, IC is asking all school parents to pick up their child’s books and learning materials on Wednesday, March 18th from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 pm in the cafeteria.

Please note:   The success of a  student’s academic achievement has been proven scientifically to be the result of a robust partnership among students, teachers, and parents.  All packets are expected to be completed and will count as a grade for the 4th quarter.

Thank you for working in partnership with our teachers on this new development and distance learning experience for your students. Patience is the utmost key the next few weeks. It is important to always keep the students' needs in the forefront so that high learning expectations continue.

Communications

IC will continue to provide parent information as needed.  This week, IC school office will be opened from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday. Emails, our website and social media will be used to keep our families informed about distance learning updates and information. The administration team will keep our families updated on changes to any timeframes or additional school, Parish, or Diocesan information.

School Office Hours/Teacher Availability

The school office will be open for phone calls and emails only from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m this week until Thursday. As soon as we know the plan for next week, we will communicate it. If you have any questions about your student’s assignments, please contact the teacher by email. Teachers will be available online from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. - 12:30p.m. on Friday.

“We can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) As  we reflect on the key values of placing Christ in the center of our lives, we will get through the disruptive COVID-19 pandemic. As a parish school community, we will be able to tell our story of how we came together in partnership to ensure high learning expectations for all students.  Turning to Christ in times of trouble will give us many strengths. We wish many blessings upon our parish school community the next few weeks.

Peace and Blessings,

Mrs. Diaz
